Under legislation passed in 2017, these smaller satellite locations, called level 4 casinos by the state, can have a maximum of 750 slot machines and up to 40 table games. Hollywood Casino York opened in August 2021 in a mall in York County and Hollywood Casino Morgantown opened in December 2021 in Berks County. The record wagers come as two more casinos similar in size to Live! Casino Pittsburgh at Westmoreland Mall opened in 2021. This was the first fiscal year not affected by coronavirus pandemic-related closures since 2018-2019. The fiscal year runs from July 2021 through June 2022. Retail slot revenue around the state was about $2.4 billion with table games bringing in a little over $1 billion for the period.
That tops the previous record of $3.2 billion for fiscal year 2018-19. In-person gambling bounced back at the 16 casinos across the state as slots and table game revenue reached a record high $3.3 billion in the last fiscal year according to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board annual report.
